The Club was founded in 2003. The Club has two 18 hole courses that have both hosted the Houston Open. The members only course was designed by John Hardy and Peter Jacobsen. The Tournament Course open to both members and the public was designed by Rees Jones and David Toms. Rees is know as the "Open Doctor" as he has renovated many US Open tournament sites. David Toms is a very accomplished Tour veteran, having won 13 tour events including the 2001 PGA Championship. The Houston Open has been staged at the club from 2003 to 2019. The Member Course hosted the event from 2003 to 2006 and the Tournament Course from 2007 to 2019. Champions include Fred Couples, Vijay Singh, Adam Scott and Phil Mickelson. The Tournament Course was designed to host the event and allows for great spectator views. The Club is a pure golf club in every sense. A note from Sun Radio Foundation: From Women Leading Technology! North Texas Giving Day is September 22, 2022. Will you support Women Leading Technology and the work we do? As a support of our organization, we are grateful for your sisterhood and passion for improving educational and career opportunities for women and girls in Science, Technology, Engineering, Architecture, the Arts, and Math (STEAAM). To further our mission and contribute to fundraising efforts, we are participating in North Texas Giving Day this year. As part of the 18-hour online giving event, presented by Communities Foundation of Texas and Amazon, individuals and companies are encouraged to give back to their communities by donating to their favorite local charities and causes, and we hope you will join us in helping improve the lives of women and girls and their futures in STEAAM. Early Giving is already open if you don’t think you’ll be able to provide your gift on Sept 22. Please follow this link to participate: https://www.northtexasgivingday.org/.../Womenleadingtechn... Why Support Women Leading Technology’s goal is to help increase opportunities for girls and women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Architecture, the Arts, and Math (STEAAM) education and careers – individuals who, as a whole, are an underrepresented community. Subsequently, our mission is to create avenues for girls to attend the WLT STEAAM Experience for Girls, which empowers them for the future through hands-on learning experiences in STEAAM. Our initiatives are centered on raising awareness and funds to support this much-needed resource, which is designed to address the lack of diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) in this sector. Special Focus One project that is dear to our hearts this year is the WLT STEAAM Experience for Girls Architecture Challenge, which is for girls in pre-k through high school. We are partnering with The University of Texas at Dallas, and the project and learning activities will be hosted at UT-Dallas’s Richardson IQ headquarters in Richardson, Texas. In 2023, from January to April, the girls will come together to learn the principles of what it takes to become an architect. They will design life-sized playhouses, similar to model homes. They will create blueprints and pick out their building materials, and the selected teams will build their desired homes with the guidance of an industry instructor and architecture college student. Together, we can reach our Giving Day goal of $70,000 to provide these vital educational opportunities to girls and help equip them for bright futures in STEAAM.
